Information, Rhythm and Resonance:
Three Critical Healing Resources

Dr. Jim Feil (USA)

During the first day of this year’s Learning Festival in Weggis we will examine under the lead of Jim Feil what it means to include ideas and experiences from the world of physics - such as fields, forces, waves, particles and cycles in their effects on our daily lives and activities. This integration of selected concepts from biology and physics into therapy and education has been going on for a good 70 years, or more.
Living forms are constantly taking in – and producing – matter, energy and information in significant quantities in order to maintain themselves, to repair, to grow and to evolve. These need to be distributed throughout the body, assimilated and transformed – by cells of all kinds to sustain the body’s integrity (recent calculations are 37 trillion body cells with 200 cell types). Processes of assembly, disassembly and reorganization go on continuously at every level of the human system.
Jim Feil will discuss and demonstrate selected ways in which information, rhythm and resonance can be explicitly incorporated into inquiry and therapeutic sessions. These three resources are fundamental to retaining and regaining health, whatever other modalities we may use as well. There will also be small group exercises in order for attendees to experience directly the principles of the work.

8 pm - 9.30 pm

The Heart as a Healer, part 1
Jack Kornfield (USA)

Presence, compassion, inner freedom and identity are our gold standard virtues as humans. In this 3-part evening seminar we are focusing in touch with these virtues on how the body is the source of healing. World famous Mindfulness- and Meditation Teacher Jack Kornfield will show us that at the moment when we are touching the body with our heart – we do open the door to the deepest healing.

Over the three evenings at the Learning Festival we will explore this healing through teachings, practices, stories, cases and dialogue, inviting all to discover their own deep healing powers.

Our Body and the Body of the World
Marianne Bentzen (DK)

Beyond just being our own ordinary bodies, our bodies are also part of the body of the world. Trauma, stress, virus, and many kinds of pollution impact the integrity of our bodies. The ways that we live sicken us, and specific life events may have wounded us deeply as well. The body has no words but even without them it can guide us to that which helps us heal.

Our bodies are eminent at self-healing when given time and support to do so. The most healing factors to trauma, and even to health in general, are to recognize the silent inner language of the body and to have loving relationships. Opening to intimacy with another human being is also to open to the body of the world; to this vast field of caring that sustains us every day.

The Body as a Healer
Dr. Peter A. Levine (USA)

Many pathologies and health challenges are due to not resolved traumatic incidents. As transformed trauma can be an authentic portal to the Deep Self of a person, it is a key element for the healing journey of a human being. Peter A. Levine, the founder of SOMATIC EXPERIENCING (SE) will explain why in his view the body is the vehicle for a transforming inner journey: Through contact with our living, sensing, knowing body we open the door for a healing experience.

People with health issues and possible unresolved trauma behind it might be attracted to a meditation practice. Quite often they fall into their trauma stories while doing so. Part of the day we will therefore explore the interface between trauma and meditation. Embodiment is the key factor here. Meditation without embodiment can separate us more from this world and disturb the healing process a person is looking for. Meditation with strong embodiment on the other hand allows us to uncover and use the intrinsic transforming relationship between mediation and trauma.
