At Paradigm's Edge
Trauma and the Human Condition III
von Anngwyn St. Just
Buch / ISBN: 978-1508809593

By definition, social trauma work emphasizes the impact of overwhelming life events beyond individuals, and families on into the larger fields of local, national and global communities. Here we enter the realm of what may be understood as the often unseen and unacknowledged role, as well as trans-generational power, of the "Greater Forces" that shape individual experience, families and other social systems. These greater forces have many names and countless variations which often overlap; including war, racism, genocide, slavery, immigration, emigration, famine, religion, class warfare, political unrest, poverty, epidemics, radiation, natural disasters and the climate-change impacts to our entire biosphere. In essence, social trauma education and field work, as I see it, follow a basic rule of ecology which holds that everything, in one way or another, is connected to everything else.

ANNGWYN ST. JUST Dr. St. Just is a systemically oriented social traumatologist who holds advanced degrees from The Western Institute for Social Research and the University of California at Berkeley. She is also a cultural historian, trauma specialist, and somatic educator who specializes in developing multi-modal, cross-cultural methods for trauma recovery and education. Currently the Director of the Arizona Center for Social Trauma, Anngwyn has also served as somatic advisor for the Drug and Alcohol Studies Program at U.C. Berkeley, and for over 40 years maintained a co-creative relationship with Peter Levine, founder of the Somatic Experience methods for working with trauma. She has traveled widely in North, Central and South America, Europe and Russia; offering seminars and training programs focused on innovative ways of healing individual and social trauma.

Anngwyn St Just is one of the truly original and innovative thinkers in the field of traumatology and human relationships. She has taken a bold step that goes beyond the simplistic, dualistic thinking so prevalent in the behavioral sciences, therapy models, and in our culture generally.
Peter A Levine, PhD. Bestselling author of In an Unspoken Voice, How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness and Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma.

Anngwyn does it again! With uncommon grace and eloquence she elucidates a depth of understanding into the dark side of the human condition, as well as the expansiveness of real healing, while covering a vast territory of concerns and cross-cultural perspectives. The author shares her illuminating insights with clarity, wit and generosity of spirit which serves us from deep within her living work and field experiences which can benefit us all, as we each find our own ways through the complexities of this challenging and transformative human journey. Diane Poole Heller Ph.D. author of "Crash Course: a Self-Healing guide to Auto Accident Trauma and Recovery" and founder of "Somatic Attachment Training Education"
